Happy Sunday, Zodiacs!  I can't believe it's been almost a year since my last Sunday Post.  Nevertheless I'm happy to be back and excited about my rebranding of this blog.  Since we've last caught up, I've bought a house, started an online book club and launched an online store.  Sounds like a lot, I know.

I'm equally excited about each of these new opportunities/journeys.  I've wanted to launch an online store for a while, but I kept talking myself out of it.  I love talking about books and doing buddy reads, but I talked myself out of starting a book club for the long time as well.

It took a few years of praying, some tears of frustrations as we house hunted before we were finally able to leave the apartment/attached living life behind.  To quote my sister's favorite rapper bar, "We started from the bottom, now we're here!"  And I have to admit that here feels good!

Recently On Southern Sagittarius

Between still unpacking, trying to track down lost packages from blog sponsors, and prepping my kids (and myself) for the upcoming school year, I haven't been able to really put as many posts as I wanted these last few weeks.  I have almost a notebook full of posts that I've already written out and need to type up.  So here's what I've written most recently:

  • My #BookBuddyAThon TBR 2017 |  I finally got a chance to participate in BookBuddyAThon and it was awesome!  I wanted to participate in it last year, but couldn't find a book buddy in time.  I didn't think it would be as hard as it was to find a book buddy.  My book buddy from this year and I have agreed to stay in touch so that we can be book buddies again next year! 😃📚

  • 2017 Make Me Read It Read-A-Thon TBR + Poll | Yep, I'm participating in my another readathon.  I'm kind of hooked after BookBuddyAThon.  This is kind of fun because you guys get to vote on which book you want me to read most and then I have to read the rest of the books in order of most votes to least votes.  So go vote if you haven't!  Thanks!

This Week on Southern Sagittarius

Now that things have settled down a bit and we're getting back on our normal schedule, you guys can expect to see me blogging over on the regular.  This week you can't expect to see the following posts go up:

  • My August TBR | Be warned it's an ambitious one!  I may or may not have went a little overboard at the library last week.  Plus, I have a ton of ARCs and review copies that I've received in the mail.

  • Tome Topple Readathon Round 4 TBR |  Yep, I'm participating in two readathons this month.  I need to get busy finding a book buddy for Challenge 4 and a graphic novel for Challenge 2.  Wish me luck y'all!

  • August Goals |  The year is half over, but I want to make sure I finish it as strong as possible.

  • Zinnia and the Bees Review I just recently got this delightful middle grade book in the mail from the author, Danielle Davis.  I can't wait to get into it.  I absolutely love the cover.

Currently Reading

I'm currently reading 3 books.  Usually, I prefer to read one book at time, but considering the mountain of good books that I have to work my way through, I'll probably be doubling up for the next few weeks.  Anyways, here are the books I'm finishing up:

  • Beautiful Mistake |  Originally, I was supposed to be buddy reading this book with a friend, but said friend bailed at the last minute.  No hard feelings.  Stuff happens and I still got to discover a new author.

  • The Hate U Give (THUG) | If you haven't heard of this national bestseller that's based on the Black Lives Matter movement, you seriously have been living under a rock.  Buzz about this book has been everywhere since BEFORE it even came it out.  I started this book before our move and now that we're settled in I'm ready to finish it up.  THUG is definitely a must-read for everyone.

  • Zinnia and the Bees |  I jumped at the chance to receive a review copy of this book based on the cover alone initially.  I know, I know we shouldn't judge books based on their covers, but I couldn't help myself.  Thankfully, the story is equally as good.  It's about a 7th grader Zinnia, who ends up in detention on the last day of school because of a prank.  Her brother vanishes.  And as if she wasn't already having it rough, a hive of bees move into her hair.

New ARCS & Review Copies Received

  • Beasts Made of Night |  Dubbed "an exquisitely crafted, imaginative and absorbing tale" by Sabaa Tahir, Beasts Made of Night is a dark fantasy about a 17 year old Taj, a sin-eater who ends up in the middle of a plot to destroy the city of Kos.  He has to only save his own neck, but the princess as well.

  • Nyxia |  Mysteriously recruited for the Babel Corporation, Emmett Atwater finds himself in a competition, with 9 other recruits, to win the right to travel to the planet Eden to mine Nyxia.  Think of Nyxia as being very valuable like gold.  Of course, more mysteries and secrets will abound.  Emmett will have to choose between winning the game by any means necessary or finding a way to still win, but not lose his humanity in the process.

  • Ramses the Damned |  It's battle of the ancient Egyptian rulers (and lovers) when both Ramses the Great and Queen Cleopatra are awaken by a life restoring elixir.  While on the quest to learn more about the powerful elixir, they end up being hunted by a mysterious source that is more powerful than them both.

Around The Web

Here's some cool stuff to check out around the web.  Sharing is caring, right?

  • I love Cameron's song melodies/mashups.  Plus, he's a pretty funny sketch comedian as well.

  • 13 Things You Need To Know Before You Travel To Cuba | I'm obsessed with Natalie's travel blog!  She's been to a ton of places that are on my travel bucket list and does a great job of recapping her trips as well as providing a ton of helpful information.  This Cuba post is no different.

  • The Best Coffee Cake Ever |  So one thing you guys might not know about me is that I love baking.  My kitchen is one of my favorite places to hang out in.  Also, I'm a huge fan of the Pioneer Woman on Food Network.  So it's only fitting that I'm trying out Ree's coffee cake recipe.

What have you been up to this week?  Read anything good?

  1. Well, how could you resist those titles from the library? There are many awesome books there. I hope to read THUG soon. I need to beat the movie release too, because I will not read a book after I have seen the adaptation. (I am odd like that). Good luck with your read-a-thons!

  3. Some amazing books you have coming up! I'm interested in most YA Fantasy books so might be up for a buddy read sometime if you're looking for a partner. I'm a huge fan of SJM and LOVED her ACOTAR series although ACOMAF was the best for me.

Best of luck with everything and looking forward to seeing you around the blogosphere more!
