What I’ve Been Reading

My Kindle has been getting quite the workout lately.  With the Fall season being upon us and the temps having dropped, I’ve kind of gone more into hermit mode than I already am.  When I’m not writing or spending time with my family, I like to curl up with a warm blanket, a hot cup of coffee and read.  These last few weeks, I have stumbled across some really good reads and thought I’d a share a few with you.
– Secret Silver Nights by Zuri Day: Who doesn’t love a good a secret?  Throw in a dash romance, a sprinkle of competition and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a good book.  Or at least that’s the case for Zuri Day.  Niko Drake thinks he has the Paradise Cove mayoral race in the bag until a worthy opponent by name of Mo Slater shows up.  Mo (short for Monique) is running for mayor to honor her godfather’s last wishes and because she needs a little bit of change in her life.

These two are no strangers to competing against each other, but this time they struggle to keep things strictly professional and before long they have to work extra hard to keep their relationship a secret.  Secret Silver Nights for me was the perfect combination of romance, suspense and drama.  There is a twist that I didn’t see coming but you’ll have to read the book to find out what it is.

– A SEAL’s Fantasy by Tawny Weber:  Tawny Weber is back with another book for her SEAL’s series, which I absolutely love!  There’s just something about a military man that screams sexy and nobody understands that better than Tawny Weber.  She’s known for her super sexy military hero reads and does not disappoint readers with this one either.

There’s steamy sex scenes, a little hand to hand combat and more as lady’s man Dominic Castillo tries to fulfill his orders to protect Lara Banks.  Did I mention Lara just so happens to be the baby sister to Dominic’s superior, who just so happens to be his least favorite person as well as Lara’s.  Juicy right?!  It doesn’t take long for things to heat up between these two, but will that fire be snuffed out once Dominic’s mission is over and Lara’s brother discovers that these two have been having a secret relationship?

Didn’t Mean To Love You by Christina C. Jones:  I’ve raved about Christina before and her latest read doesn’t disappoint either.  Hands down it has become my all time favorite book that she’s written.  Chocolatier and shop owner Vivienne (Viv) has just had her broken by her ex.  So, what’s the best way to get over the ultimate betrayal?  Starting up an unlikely friendship with your hot as sin next door neighbor of course!

Things between Carter and Viv go from being just friends to friends with benefit to complicated quickly.  As the rapper Drake would say they went “0 to 100 real quick.”  The only issue is Carter doesn’t want to define their relationship, while Viv does.  Will these two stick to just being friends who have steamy sex or is Carter going to overcome his commitment issues?  You will definitely want to read this find out.

It’s so good.  Like almost better than eating chocolate itself.  And that’s saying a lot because I LOVE chocolate.

Every Five Years by Christine Ardigo: I just started reading this book and I like it.  In a nutshell, Heather and Nicolo know in their heart of hearts that they’re meant to be, but fears and issues from their pasts keep them from fully committing.  They do reunite five years later and well, those feelings are still just as hot and heavy as they were all those years before.  It’s going to be interesting to see if these two can get it together.

I forgot to mention that Heather is in a relationship with Lance, who just happens to have more money one would know what do with.  While money can’t buy happiness, it can and does provide financial security, which is something she craves.  However, true love trumps all, even money and I want to see her end up with Nicolo.  We’ll all have to read this one to find out who Heather chooses.

Have you read any good books lately?  If so, feel free to mention them in the comments below.  I’m always on the search for a good read!  Also, all of these books are available for purchase on Amazon.

Until next time,
K
